Australian Training Awards – Showcasing Excellence in VET
The Australian Training Awards are the peak national program for vocational education and training (VET). They celebrate the people, organisations and businesses setting the standard in skills and training.
For more than 25 years, the awards have promoted the value of VET while recognising those who drive its success. As a result, the program has built strong national awareness of skills-based careers. It continues to highlight the achievements of individuals and employers who strengthen Australia’s workforce.
How the Awards Work
Winners from state and territory training awards go on to compete for a national title. In addition, some categories allow direct entry through the national portal. This approach means local success can be recognised on the national stage, while also offering opportunities for new entrants.
Categories
The program includes a broad range of categories, for example:
- Trainee of the Year Award (State/Territory Entry)
- VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award (State/Territory Entry)
- Small Employer of the Year Award (State/Territory Entry)
- Large Employer of the Year Award (State/Territory Entry)
- Innovation in VET Award (Direct Entry)
- Vocational Student of the Year Award (State/Territory Entry)

How to Nominate
There are two ways to enter:
State/Territory entry – Nominees first enter through their state or territory awards. Winners in those categories automatically move on to the national stage.
Direct entry – Some categories are managed nationally. Applicants submit directly through the Australian Training Awards portal. For more details, contact [email protected]
