Together with the South Australian Museum, Australian Geographic is committed to enhancing general knowledge of this extraordinary legacy by encouraging photography of the region’s nature and landscapes, and promoting it in this annual competition to find the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year. With over $10,000 in prizes, the competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers of any age, located anywhere around the world.
The Australian Photography Awards (APA) is the most progressive and inclusive award for photographers in Australia. Each year, APA calls for original and thought-provoking photography. Photos can be taken anywhere in the world, just as long as the photographs are made by a person residing within Australia or any person living outside of Australia with Australian citizenship. APA searches for work which pushes the boundaries of what a photograph can be. Experimental, new and artful approaches to photography that may be overlooked in other awards are welcomed.

The Birdlife Australia Photography Awards are open to all photographers, world wide.

Photographer of the Year has become an important launchpad for many amateur photographers in Australia and New Zealand.
